NO VOTE-BUYING COVENANT For Barangay Election Of October , 2010 Barangay Badbad Oriental Municipality of Loon Province of Bohol REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENT THAT we, candidates for Barangay Government and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials, have committed ourselves to an honest election where the love in the hearts and wisdom in the minds of our constituents shall be the sole guide of their votation as to who will their new leaders be in the next three to five years; THAT we have understood and fully known that votebuying and any other dishonest means to win the votes of the voters shall not bring blessing and progress to our village (barangay) but instead slow down or even halt or worse, reverse, the development of the village; FOR, as the Holy Scriptures say, “for a bribe [which votemoney is one] blinds those who see and twists the words of the righteous” (Exodus 23:8), we recognize the evil of votebuying in causing the untrustworthy and wicked get the leadership positions, instead of those who are men and women of intellect, talents, love, righteousness and integrity, who have the noble vision of progress and development and who possess the abilities to lead the people towards that vision; THEREFORE, we affix our signatures below as proof of our solid commitment to no-votebuying, honest election as well as to our initiative to help watch the election and testify against those who will perform unfair and dishonest acts just to win; AS we started this no vote-buying, clean election the previous local election with better results and more barangay improvements, so we express our desire to make honest election our practice and tradition.
