EVOLUTION OF BARANGAY BADBAD ORIENTAL: "WE WILL WIN THE WAR!"

Dear Doy Ritchie:

There’s a saying which occurred during the World Wars I & II: “We may lose the (small) battles, but we will the (whole) war.”

Indeed you lost in your attempt to garner the post of barangay captainship. I too lost in my re-election bid as barangay councilor.

Reason: The dictate of the ruling party is strong.

So, we lost the battle.

But, time is coming when their type of leadership which has nothing to give but flattery and deceit will come to the point of becoming obnoxious.

For example: We praise the mayors for whatever reasons, but time is coming when we will judge our leaders in how they manage our taxmoney, e.g., the 20% Development Fund.

In the printed and circulated Platform of Development by Mayor Loyd and colleagues, they listed mobile clinic, additional ambulance and the likes as their 3-year promise (platform). I had put monetary value to their platform and it is sad to find that the total cost does not reach P2 millions.

For the municipality of Loon, in each year, there is around P8 million of 20% Development Fund x 3years per term = P24 millions in 3 years. Question: If their platform costs only P2 million, where shall the remaining P22 millions go?

So, there they are! That is why they move heaven and earth to borrow and find the money and prostitute themselves to find the funds to buy the people’s votes at P150 or more during election. They can take that money back many times over by stealing much of the 20% Development Fund and other sources of funds they can put their fingers into.

WE cannot judge Lloyd now, because it is too early. But the main question we will ask from our mayor, after his term (and that will be in 2010) is: WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH THE P24 MILLION DEVELOPMENT FUNDS FOR THE GOOD OF THE PEOPLE?

That is one of the wise bases to judge our officials.

WE will judge them when the right time comes.

For the moment, DEVELOP YOURSELF TO BECOME THE TRUE LEADER YOU CAN BE – BRIGHT IN MIND AND COMPASSIONATE IN THE HEART.

That’s the kind of leadership that is becoming in demand. New kind of leaders. If you can develop yourself into that kind,
